I've long thought about getting a 2nd bike, a stable mate as it were to sit alongside my R1 (4c8, 07 model).
Im thinking something more distance friendly for my portly frame,as i really dont see the point of me owning two high powered bikes, as id be sat wondering which 1 to take out all the time. Im reckoning on a 2.5/3 K budget.
Now im no Ewan, Charlie or Ted Simon & i just dont get the GS brigade, if you wanted a bike for continental travel, why so big, so heavy, so thirsty, surely in this day & age a good 750/800 would be just as purposeful.
I really likes the new CCM GP450, but just not quite big enough for bombing round the UK,
so my inquisitive side asks do i go for something like a decent older middleweight, like another VFR/ CBR type allrounder, or do i look at something like a TDM900, all the power & comfort that i think id need, with none of the desirability? but would it be too big & heavy for what we like to call winter riding? not in snow & ice, but on the crap covered roads we get between October & April?
    decisions, decisions, advice please........

well the choice was made & i believe it were a good choice to a 56 plate low mileage tidy but not mint is now parked alongside the R1, & it truly is a pleasant comfy beastie to ride
