There will be a new team on the tracks from next season as the Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team was officially unveiled.
The team will have a presence in all three tiers of Grand Prix Motorsports and have already announced their line-up. Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo will represent the team in MotoGP, Khairul Idham Pawi will ride in Moto2 and Ayumu Sasaki and John McPhee are the ones chosen for Moto3.
Franco Morbidelli, the 2018 MotoGP rookie of the year, said: “This is my second team presentation as a MotoGP rider and my first with this ambitious team. To be honest, it has been really impressive, everybody is very excited and committed to the team.

The all-new BMW Motorrad WSBK team has unveiled its livery for the 2019 season in Portimao.
The new factory effort, run by Shaun Muir Racing, will race the brand new S1000RR with Tom Sykes and Markus Reiterberger. Featuring the iconic light blue, dark blue red and white colours of BMW ‘M’ Motorsport, the striking design marks the Munich factory’s return to the world stage with a fully supported effort since the withdrawal of the Goldbet BMW team in 2013.

On a partially resurfaced racetrack the opening day proved to be almost as much of a fact-finding exercise as a regular test at times. With new asphalt being laid in several corners, but not all, everyone had to take some time to adapt to the new feel and grip levels, as the track cleaned up with every lap the riders set.

Fan favourite Michael Dunlop will return to the Isle of Man TT Races with Tyco BMW for 2019.
Dunlop added three more wins to his tally at TT 2018, riding a combination of Tyco machinery and his own MD Racing bikes, to take him to third place on the all-time winners board behind legends John McGuinness and Joey Dunlop.
Dunlop has his sights firmly fixed on adding to his impressive tally of silverware. He said: “We grabbed a Superbike TT win last year, which was a good start, and the goal this year will be to go after both the Superbike and Senior TT wins.”
Although the team and rider are remaining the same, one element of the mix will be changing as BMW introduce the new S1000RR.

The Honda Racing Team has annoucned that David Johnson will line-up next to Ian Hutchinson on the roads for the 2019 road race season.
Hutchinson and Johnson will spearhead Honda’s charge on the roads at The International North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT, with both rider contesting the Superbike and Superstock 1000 classes aboard the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2, with the team also preparing a CBR600RR Supersport machine for Hutchinson.
‘Davo’ made his debut at the TT in 2010 aboard Honda machinery where he claimed the accolade of fastest newcomer that year. Ducati has unveiled its 2019 team colours at the Phillip Morris R&D Cube in Neuchatel, Switzerland.
Sporting a very, very red livery, the design harks backs to the liveries of yore for the Italian brand, complete with Audi Sport logo and a barcode-esque Ducati Winnow logo on the side.
As usual, Ducati remains tightlipped when it comes to actual details and figures about its race bikes, and instead quotes a ballpark peak power figure 'in excess of 250hp' for its Desmodromic V4 powerplant.

HJC Helmets have reached an agreement with Cal Crutchlow to become his official helmet sponsor for 2019 and 2020 in the MotoGP World Championship.
Cal has been a permanent fixture on the MotoGP grid since 2011 and the British rider continues his relationship with Team LCR Honda in 2019 after celebrating three podiums in 2018 including a victory in Argentina. Details are scarce, but Aprilia has revealed some insights into the new RS 660, which Aprilia says is for a 'new generation of riders looking to fulfil thrills on the road as well as on the occasional track day'.

Raceday at the British GP at Silverstone was a shambles as rain cancelled the race. Yes, the most obvious of British weather conditions brought the MotoGP Championship to a standstill. William Dunlop has died after a crash during practice for the Skerries 100 in County Dublin.
The 32-year-old rider from Ballymoney, County Antrim, was a member of the Dunlop dynasty of racing greats and a repeat winner of the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix.
Last month, William missed the TT races be with his pregnant partner, Janine.

It's been confirmed local rider Dan Kneen has died following a crash in Wednesday evening's TT practice session.
The 30-year-old was involved in an incident at the Churchtown area of the course, which resulted in a tree catching fire and the session being red flagged.
Kneen had been in promising form in previous practices; not least on Tuesday evening when he was almost 2mph up on his previous best.
That came back in the 2017 Superstock race where he registered the one and only podium finish of his TT career.
He was third quickest on his Tyco BMW on Tuesday night with a 132.26mph lap.
The rest of Wednesday's action was called off following the incident at Churchtown on Wednesday, with police later confirming the competitor involved was Kneen.

LCR Honda's Cal Crutchlow has been declared fit to race after suffering a vicious high side crash during Saturday's qualifying 1 session at the Grand Prix of France in Le Mans.
Exiting Turn Nine while on a fast lap, the British rider was thrown over the top of the bike, before then being hit again by the bike as it slid along the asphalt behind him.
Crutchlow was attended to immediately by the marshals and medical staff at the side of the track, where it became clear that he had not lost consciousness at any moment, but he was complaining of pain in his hip region.

After a masterful race one win for Rea from pole position on Saturday, Sunday’s 19-lap race delivered a victory of a different kind. Starting from ninth, and not getting away as cleanly, Rea had to put in several passes before getting into the slipstream of early leader Chaz Davies.

A war of words has broken out between the Honda and Ducati factory riders following the dramatic racing incident at Jerez which saw Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso crash out while fighting for second.
The drama unfolded on Lap 18, when Dovizioso, clearly frustrated at running behind a sower Lorenzo, attempted to pass his team-mate on the brakes but ran wide at Turn 6, sucking team-mate Lorenzo with him. Pedrosa, saw his opportunity, and carried a smooth line into the corner, and as Lorenzo attempted to sweep back inside he made contact with the Honda rider, causing the diminutive Pedrosa to have a massive high side. Pedrosa’s bike then caused Lorenzo to sit up and take avoiding action, leading him to Dovizioso and all three riders hit the dirt.

Assen proved to be a happy hunting ground for Kawasaki as Tom Sykes and Jonny Rea secured a Team Green 1-2.
The Race Two victory was the first win for Sykes since Misano in 2017 in emphatic fashion, while championship leader Rea finished a strong second today, despite launching from the third row of the grid after winning the first Assen race on Saturday.
Sykes, who stated on pole, looked unbeatable on Sunday, running clear of his early rivals and maintaining a remarkably consistent high pace throughout.
Rea found the going tougher – the three-time champions was fourth after Lap One, then third after four laps, before taking second place on Lap Six.
By that stage Sykes had already opened up a gap of 3.5 seconds, which grew as Rea had to defend his position.

The Americas GP also made it back-to-back podium finishes for Suzuki, with Andrea Iannone putting in an impressive push from the front row to take third and his first rostrum finish of the season – and first rostrum with the Hamamatsu factory.

Things got pretty hot in Texas in qualifying for the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, with drama first striking as reigning champion Marc Marquez took a tumble on his Repsol Honda at Turn 13.
With the other riders closing in on his time as he made his way back to the Honda garage on a scooter, Marquez was able to get back out, and set a sixth pole position at the Circuit of the Americas – closely followed by a resurgent Maverick Viñales on the Yamaha.
However, that wasn’t the end of the tale, and Marquez found his riding under the spotlight again – Viñales, after an impressive show of race pace earlier in the day in FP4, came across a slower-moving Marquez on his first flyer on his second run and was forced to abandon the lap.
